Delete your account and data

Delete in the app

1. Sign in to Machiwa.
2. Open the My tab and tap the gear (Settings) at the top right.
3. Under Account, tap Delete account, then choose Delete on the confirmation screen.

On the web version (https://machiwa.web.app) you can do the same if you sign in with Google or email. Accounts that use Sign in with Apple should be deleted from the iPhone app.

If you own a circle that has other members, first hand ownership to another member on the circle's member screen. You cannot delete your account until you do. Circles with no other members are deleted with your account.

Ask by email

If you cannot use the app or the web version, write to dvdsang2@gmail.com from the email address you registered, with the subject "Machiwa account deletion" and your display name. To prevent deletion by someone else, we confirm it is you (we may ask for more confirmation). We delete the account within 30 days after confirming and let you know by email.

What is deleted

• Your account (sign-in details, email address) and profile (display name, photo, introduction, activity area)
• Board posts, comments, likes, stories and event photos
• Messages you sent in circle chats
• The DMs you are in (host and attendee DMs, trade DMs). They also disappear for the other person
• Photos and clips in Today's log. Vlogs of days with your posts are removed from the list
• Used-item listings, the ratings you gave and the ratings you received
• Requests to join and circle memberships; event sign-ups, answers and check-in records; poll answers; saved circles and events. Confirmed event seats go to people on the waitlist
• Circles you owned that have no other members, with their events and posts
• Notification settings, push notification tokens, in-app notices, usage records and feedback you sent
• The photo and video files you uploaded

What is kept, and for how long

• Records of reports (reports you made and reports about you, including an excerpt of the content): 3 years after they are handled, for safety and to resolve disputes
• Blocks other users set against you: until they undo the block or delete their account
• Vlog video files that included your posts: no longer shown in the app, but the files may remain in storage
• Server access logs: deleted automatically after 30 days
• Recovery copies: deleted data and files remain for up to 7 days, then are erased
• Information the law requires us to keep: for the period the law sets

Delete data but keep your account

You can delete posts, messages (long-press to unsend), listings, Today's log entries and so on from each screen at any time. To ask for specific data to be deleted, write to dvdsang2@gmail.com.
